LTCA Accumulator

Progressive’s Linear Tension Control Accumulator includes a fixed upper sheave assembly and a moving lower sheave assembly with a sufficient number of sheaves on each to produce the required accumulation upon expansion. Sheaves will be of UHMW construction or other materials compatible with the particular product requirements. Tension is controlled by way of the physical addition or removal of weights.

The LTCA has an output voltage controlled by cable operated potentiometer and proportional to the spread of the accumulator, suitable to control the speed of most drives (Including D. C. Drives, A.C. Frequency Drives, and Eddy Current Drives whose input requirements are up to 10 vdc). Line height is maintained by side arm supported pulley assemblies typically mounted at 42" and adjustable for varying process heights. A spring clamp is provided to prevent the unthreading (pull back) of the dancer when tension is removed at the entry or exit roller.

The controlled accumulation can be adjusted by simply adjusting the number of wraps on the pulleys to compensate for various line speeds, and other customer requirements. Total accumulation can range from 6’ in a single wrap to 100'.

Tension on the LTCA is controlled manually by adjusting the number of counter weights to provide tension levels from as low as two (2) oz. to as high as eight (8) oz. (approximately).
